The Royal Thai Army and Krungthai Bank signed an agreement yesterday (September 9) on providing financial services for military welfare projects, such as granting loans for officers and development of the Army’s savings division.

The move aims to enhance efficiency in the Army’s financial management and improve officers’ quality of life.

Finance Ministry permanent secretary and Krungthai Bank chairman Prasong Poontaneat witnessed the signing ceremony at Royal Thai Armed Forces Headquarters.

Army chief General Apirat Kongsompong said military welfare projects aimed to encourage officers to save money for retirement.

“We have received cooperation from Krungthai Bank, a state-owned bank, with potential and transparency to help in projects to enhance and improve military officers’ quality of life,” he said.

Meanwhile, Krungthai Bank president Payong Srivanich said the bank would provide one-stop financial services to all people, such as low-income earners, those who have retired, students, government officials, employees and business entrepreneurs.

“The bank will provide a full range of financial services, such as bank accounts, electronic cards and loans for military officers. In addition, we will provide other services, such as Smart Healthcare and Wellness and a Smart RTA Academy,” he said.
