Asean tourism ministers held a conference to discuss measures to restore the industry.
The Minister of Tourism and Sports Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn took part in the conference on Wednesday (April 29).
He said that the meeting was aimed at sharing information and guidelines to contain the spread of Covid-19 virus through the Asean Tourism Crisis Communications Team (ATCCT).
“Thailand has already implemented measures to mitigate the impact on entrepreneurs and employees in the tourism industry,” he said.
“In the next phase, we will issue additional measures to maintain the travel industry capability, generate revenue for tourism venues, develop skills for tourism personnel, establish safety standards on tourism and health, help tourism entrepreneurs, and create effective communication.”
He added that Asean tourism ministers agreed to exchange information and guidelines to contain the spread of Covid-19 virus through ATCCT.
“In addition, we will implement the measures designed to create confidence among tourists who travel to Asean countries,” he added. “Meanwhile, we will abide by the rehabilitation plan to help tourism and the economy recover after the Covid-19 outbreak is resolved.”
