More than 40 major consumer goods suppliers have confirmed that they have enough products to meet full demand, Commerce Ministry permanent-secretary Boonyarit Kalayanamit said today (March 16).
According to Boonyarit, their production capacity is only 70 per cent at present and they can smoothly ramp this up to 100 per cent if need be.
Therefore, there is no reason for Thais to rush to hoard products, he made it clear.
Public fear over the Covid-19 situation has prompted many people to empty the shelves at some retail stores.
Boonyarit pointed out that Thailand is a global hub for food and consumer products, besides being a major rice producer, therefore people must not be worried that there could be a food shortage.
