The Election Commission cancelled a meeting scheduled for 1.30pm today (April 28) after a director-level official tested positive for Covid-19 as he worked with a legal officer who earlier infected the coronavirus, a news source said.
The director is among the first group of 14 staff tested immediately after the EC was aware the officer was infected.
Last week, 140 of the Commission’s staff were tested for the virus at Mongkutwattana General Hospital. The complete results are expected today.
The EC has asked all staff who have been in contact with the director and the legal officer to get tested either at hospital or at the Commission headquarters on Chaengwattana Road. The EC has invited Department of Disease Control officials to conduct the tests and offer advice to all employees.
